In the event of dirt particles, runs, or sags in your topcoat, it’s possible to remove these imperfections after fully baking and cooling the vehicle.
Sanding and polishing is most effective after complete baking and cool down. If you have any difficulty in achieving a true bake, overnight drying should be added to the procedure.
Sanding
Runs should first be sanded with 1000 to remove 90% of the defect. Then move to 1500 in the final part of sanding to give a flat, smooth, and recoverable surface. Dirt should be sanded with 1500, 2000, or equivalent.
Polishing
• Polishing is best carried out with an electric polisher at 1500 rpm, fitted with a firm sponge pad.
• When working with compounding paste, always use small amounts.
• Only use a compound coarse enough to remove the sanding scratches and produce the gloss desired.
• Protect your new finish with a hand glaze-type product when all sanding scratches are removed
• A final wash with clean, fresh water on a sponge will remove splashes and residue.
NOTE: Polishing with a lamb’s wool pad is not necessary with this system and should always be avoided in the interest of cleanliness in a paint shop.
