Body Shop Jobs is the Premier job board for the Automotive Collision Repair Industry.

Are you looking for quality employees to work for your business? Body Shop Jobs is a service connecting auto body professionals with employers. We chatted with the company’s founder and president Diane Benting.

How Did Body Shop Jobs Get Started?

Diane: I was in the automotive collision industry for about 15 years in the marketing side, and I was always helping shops find employees. And I thought, well, why are we directing them to these big mass national job boards or Craigslist or somewhere else? Where can they go to actually find employees for the automotive collision industry? And then I thought, well, why can’t I create that? And so that’s where the idea was born for Body Shop Jobs.

This seems to be a first-of-its-kind service within this industry. How does it work?

Diane: So there’s other job boards out there for the industry, but they’re mainly geared towards techs because that’s the biggest shortage we have right now. I wanted something that is for the painters, the front of the house people, manufacturers, rep agencies, distributors, insurance, to cover all the bases of anybody that’s in the field.

Let’s say you have a painter who’s been painting for 30 years. He’s tired of bending over, breaking his back, being in a paint booth all the time. Where does he go? Well, distributors are always looking for paint techs or somebody to be teaching new people. So that’s where my job board excels: They can find a job for a painting position with a distributor or a manufacturer or somebody else.

I launched in April of 2023 so, fairly new. And I have ideas on how I want it to grow and expand. I’m rolling out new features constantly, just little tidbits that I add in here and there or getting feedback from people, too. I love getting the feedback from shops or job seekers saying “It’d be really great if you could do this”, and I can go to my web development team and ask them if it’s something that’s possible or not.

Has the engagement from shops been positive so far?

Diane: Yes, it has. A lot of them have agreed that a national recruiting tool was needed that covers all the bases. And so that’s been really positive.

What is the process for a candidate to submit a resume?

Diane: I wanted everything to be very straightforward where you’re not trying to like figure out “Where do I go? What do I click on? What do I do if [I’m] a job seeker looking for a job?” You can go on and create an account as a job seeker. If you don’t have a resume, we have a resume generator where you can enter your information and it’ll generate you a quick PDF. Once you submit your resume, I do all the approving of resumes and employers can then search for you or you can apply directly to job postings from the site.

Is this service just for shops alone or do manufacturers have access to it?

Diane: Yes, manufacturers, rep agencies, distributors, and actually I’m going to add pretty soon education. Because we do have people that are in the industry who want to move into the teaching sector or vice versa. Perhaps a teacher wants to go paint at a shop for three months, or maybe somebody is looking to pick up work. So I’m looking to add the education factor to it, too. That’s the nice thing about the site: I can ever grow it and change it for the industry.

Is the website free for candidates?

Diane: Yes. For anybody looking for a job position, it’s completely free for them to upload their resume and to look for jobs. For employers, I make it really cost effective with three different tiers for job postings. It’s a $25, $35, or $50 posting. It’s live for 30 days. And then after that, you have the choice to renew if you haven’t found anybody. I want it all to be cost-effective and user-friendly.

The goal too, is to partner with other paint distributors or any distributor where they can have their logo added to the website with a link from their website to Body Shop Jobs.
